WHAT FAMILY JEWELER MEANS TO ME
The name of my store is Bert Levi Family Jewelers, and to me, the most important word in that name is ?family.? I?m a third generation business, and that means being a jeweler by its very nature is a family experience for me. My grandfather taught my father and both of them taught me, and I?ve been around jewelry my whole life. My first job was at my grandfather?s shop, and I really haven?t done any other kind of profession. I?ve worked with family members from my first day on the job, and I even have the honor of working with my wife Gloria now. See, to me, jewelry is a family tradition, and I approach everything we do with that perspective.
What does that mean? First of all, it means we treat customers like family. See, I?m committed to being fair and going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to my customers. My grandfather taught me that even though we might make dozens of engagement rings or wedding bands in a week, there is nothing routine about it for a customer. He taught me to imagine how I would want family members to be treated when something so special in their lives was occurring. Would I want them treated like just another day, just another ring, and just another lump of gold? No way. We treat customers like family because most of the time when someone buys jewelry there?s a special reason for it, and nothing we do ought to ruin that.
It also means we?re dedicated to constantly learning ways to be better at what we do and to achieve it at a lower cost. We design and manufacture our own jewelry because we don?t believe family members should have to pay extra for a name. We?re direct diamond distributor because we don?t believe family members should have to pay a bunch of middlemen. We direct employees to advance their education because we would want family members served by a GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional and not just a commissioned salesperson without any jewelry knowledge.
